Effectively Warn Pilots of Closed Runways and Taxiways
25 Years of Manufacturing Excellence
With over 25 years of experience manufacturing airfield closure markers, NAC has perfected the construction process. Our markers are made from heavy-duty vinyl windscreen material with fused overlapping centers, allowing for quick and efficient placement. Rolled-rim brass grommets are hemmed along the marker border for secure anchoring or sandbagging
FAA-Compliant Applications
The FAA requires specific placement of temporary closure markers:
- Temporarily closed runways: Yellow X markers at each end of the runway (lighted or non-lighted based on aircraft activity)
- New runways not yet open: Yellow X markers at each end
- Closed taxiways: Yellow X marker at the entrance from the runway
- Heliport closures: Yellow X placed over the “H” marking
An optional black border can be added to enhance visibility for pilots.
Why Tarp Style Markers Are Unsafe
Superior Wind Resistance
Our markers are engineered to withstand 25 mph surface winds without anchors (anchors or sandbags are recommended for optimal performance). This superior material design outperforms less expensive “tarp” or plywood material markers that constantly shift with wind gusts. Each of our markers is stitched together in the center, allowing for a perfect “X” every time.
